Telvin Vah Wins 2019 Gatorade POY. Donates $1,000 Grant to Tri-City Storm

Telvin Vah has had an illustrious youth soccer career in the FM area. Two-time high school state champion, ND Senior Athlete of the year, three-time All-State selection, President’s Cup winner, and the 2019 Gatorade Player of the Year!

In winning the 2019 Gatorade POY award, Vah had the opportunity to give back to the community he has thrived in. This year, “Through Gatorade’s Play It Forward program, all 607 state Gatorade Player of the Year recipients are empowered to award a $1,000 grant from Gatorade to a community organization that helps young athletes realize the benefits of playing sports.”

Tri-City Storm is thrilled to announce that Telvin Vah has chosen Tri-City Storm as the organization in which he feels best empowers this ideal. Therefore, TC will receive the $1,000 grant!

“Tri-City Storm was the right choice for me because they are more than just a soccer organization, they are a family. TC have not just helped me with soccer, they have also helped to shape me into a being a better person. Giving a donation to TC is not about me, it is about the hundreds of kids that TC are helping and will continue to help on a daily basis in the FM area.”

"He sets such a great example for younger players to follow. His commitment to training, the day-in and day-out grind he is willing to put in, is what sets him apart. The support he shows his teammates and others on and off of the field, is really heartwarming. Having an athlete like Telvin who shows great leadership on a consistent basis and is always looking to affect things in a positive way, helps the club build a culture for success.

We are incredibly humbled to receive the Gatorade POY grant from Telvin. Our goal here is to provide an environment not only for young athletes to improve themselves as soccer players but also as people out in the community. For him to give back in that way, it means a great deal to all of us at the club and we are so thankful to have Telvin as a part of our TC family. It’s about so much more than soccer. "

-Mike Wolfer, Director of Coaching

"Since being back in Fargo, I have had the pleasure of watching Telvin in different areas. His talent is undeniable on the soccer field. But, the truly special part of Telvin is his leadership and dedication to others. This is shown by the way he gives back and his leadership within the club. We look forward to Telvin’s continued growth in college, our club, and as a leader in the community. Telvin, thank you for your donation. TC Storm and the community are very proud of you!

This grant reinforces the positive environment that this club provides to its members and the community. We will use this money to reinvest into developing the next Telvin Vah."

-John Ross, Executive Director

“Tri-City Storm has taught me a many life lessons. The greatest of which being, Give what you want in return. Put in the time to help those who deserve it, and you will live a successful life."
